Save the Children continues providing assistance to Wutip typhoon affected families in Quang Binh

More than 1600 Wutip typhoon affected families in Quang Binh Province will be provided with support on livelihoods and house repairs by Save the Children and Plan through an Euro- 700,000 project funded by European Commission.

Save the Children project helps vulnerable children better prepare for disasters in Dong Thap and Tien Giang

More than 12,000 children in 24 primary schools in Dong Thap and Tien Giang were provided with trainings and life saving equipments to better prepare for disasters thank to a project by the Prudence Foundation and Save the Children from February 2013 to April 2014.

The Prudence Foundation Equips Communities In Dong Thap Province For Better Disaster Risk Preparedness

The Prudence Foundation and Save the Chilren in cooperation with Dong Thap Department of Education and Training presents the 590 million VNDs’ worth of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)  equipment package (equivalent to $US 26,800) to communities and schools of 2 beneficiary districts: Hong Ngu and Tan Hong. The package includes: 2 inflatable swimming pools, 55 hand-held and lecture loudspeakers, 35 first aid kits, 500 floating school bags, 180 water wings for school children and 150 life vest for community and school beneficiaries.

Save the Children provides financial support for families to recover from Typhoon Wutip.

Today, Save the Children is to start providing monetary grants to families who suffered loses due to Typhoon Wutip, which hit central Vietnam last September. The donations will be used to help repair houses and recover livelihoods.

 The grants will be distributed to 1,200 households and an estimated 2,400 children living in four disadvantaged communes of Quang Trach and Bo Trach districts in Quang Binh Province.

Children join in community’s climate change adaptation plan

This is the first time, Hong Thuy have attended to a workshop about climate change.

“I have learned the concepts of vulnerability, hazard and disaster,” said the 12- year-old girl.

Thuy is in the sixth grade class of Tan Phuoc Secondary School in Gia Thuan Commune in Go Cong Dong District of Tien Giang Province. Situated by the start of the Mekong River in Vietnam, the province experiences flooding almost every year. In Thuy’s opinion the floods are happening more regularly.
