VOICES OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

On the morning of 28/08/2022, nearly 100 children with disabilities, parents, caregivers, representatives of associations/groups, special education centers, vocational and vocational training institutions for children with disabilities and associations of people with disabilities in some districts in Hanoi attended the communication event "Children’s Voice" at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi. The event was well received with the attendance of Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Permanent Vice President, Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD), Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) and representatives of Save the Children.

In the event, children with disabilities had the chance to join interesting activities such as: music performances, quiz games about children's rights ... In particular, the event also had interactive playgrounds and games for children to learn about their rights which were led by children with disabilities, with the support from their parents and caregivers.

N.H.A, a child with hearing impairment shared: "I am very happy to participate in this activity, I perform ao dai, have fun and meet new friends. For me, the right to protection is the most important." H.D, a child with intellectual impairment, also had the same opinion: "It is very fun to participate in those activities. In my opinion, the right to physical and mental health is the most important. I want to be involved in more activities like this".

The event is organized to raise awareness of children, families and communities about child rights, especially the right to participate and the right to be protected of all children. Through this event, Save the Children expects that parents, caregivers and stakeholders pay more attention to children's voices and discuss with them so that children can be effectively supported, especially children with disabilities.

The activity is within the framework of the project “Increased accountability to eliminate violence and discrimination against children with disabilities”, which is implemented by ACDC and Save the Children in Vietnam, funded by Save the Children Hong Kong.

Sáng 28/08/2022, gần 100 trẻ khuyết tật cùng các cha mẹ, người chăm sóc trẻ, đại diện các hội/nhóm, trung tâm giáo dục đặc biệt, cơ sở hướng nghiệp và dạy nghề trẻ khuyết tật và Hội người khuyết tật một số quận/huyện trên địa bàn Hà Nội đã đến tham gia sự kiện truyền thông “Tiếng nói của chúng em” tại Công viên Thống Nhất, Hà Nội. Sự kiện có sự tham dự của ông Đặng Văn Thanh, Phó Chủ tịch thường trực, Liên hiệp hội về người khuyết tật Việt Nam (VFD), Lãnh đạo Viện Nghiên cứu phát triển cộng đồng (ACDC) và đại diện Tổ chức Cứu trợ trẻ em tại Việt Nam.

Đến với chương trình, trẻ khuyết tật được trải nghiệm các hoạt động thú vị như: biểu diễn văn nghệ, trò chơi đố vui về quyền trẻ em... Đặc biệt, sự kiện còn có những khu vui chơi và trò chơi tìm hiểu về quyền trẻ em do chính trẻ khuyết tật dẫn dắt, với sự tham gia hỗ trợ của các cha mẹ, người chăm sóc trẻ.

Em N.H.A, một trẻ khiếm thính chia sẻ: “Em rất vui khi tham gia hoạt động này, em được trình diễn tiết mục áo dài và được vui chơi, gặp gỡ các bạn. Đối với em quyền được bảo vệ là quan trọng nhất.” Em H.D, trẻ khuyết tật trí tuệ cũng có cùng ý kiến: “Được tham gia hoạt động em rất vui. Theo em, quyền được đảm bảo sức khoẻ về thể chất và tinh thần là quan trọng nhất. Em muốn được tham gia nhiều hoạt động như thế này hơn nữa.”

Sự kiện được tổ chức nhằm nâng cao nhận thức của trẻ em, gia đình, cộng đồng về quyền trẻ em, đặc biệt là quyền được tham gia và quyền được bảo vệ của trẻ. Thông qua sự kiện này, Tổ chức Cứu trợ Trẻ em mong đợi cha mẹ, người chăm sóc trẻ và các bên liên quan dành nhiều thời gian để lắng nghe và thảo luận với trẻ để có thể hỗ trợ các em hiệu quả hơn, đặc biệt là trẻ em khuyết tật.

Hoạt động nằm trong khuôn khổ dự án “Phòng chống Bạo lực thể chất, tinh thần và Phân biệt đối xử đối với Trẻ khuyết tật” do ACDC và Tổ chức Cứu trợ Trẻ em thực hiện, tài trợ bởi Tổ chức Cứu trợ trẻ em Hồng Kông.
