Wednesday 26 March 2014

Save the Children has provided two trainings on health and nutrition for 360 teachers and school managers from Ha Noi and Hai Phong in March.

The trainings focus on providing health and nutrition information, interactive teaching and learning methods and child focused approach in health and nutrition education for teachers and school managers of 24 primary and secondary schools in the two cities.

At the trainings, participants had opportunities to watch an example of lecture by Save the Children’s specialists and play quiz and games as part of practicing exercises.

“I like to attend the training, especially the exemplified lecture as I could learn how to make fun for children on the subject of health and nutrition so they are more attentive. Besides, I can learn a lot from my colleagues through discussions at the training”, said Nguyen Thi Chanh, the teacher of Phu La Primary School in Hanoi.

After the trainings, participants are expected to include subjects of health and nutrition in teaching programmes and to organize activities and events with these topics of health and nutrition for the children.

Similar training will be organized for 12 primary and secondary schools in HCM City in June.

The trainings are part of Save the Children’s US$846,652 School Health Programme started from 2011 for three cities: Hanoi, Hai Phong and HCM City.

The programme aims to benefit nearly 60,000 school children through teacher and school manager trainings, the construction of school’s sanitation system and provision of health check-up.
